About

Bentropy is a blog made by an environmental enthusiast aiming to spark excitement about this beautiful planet we call Earth.

The posts come in one (or more) of three categories:

  • facts & figures – short articles / commentaries underlined with statistics, papers and graphics that can be used as a fast-based fundament for discussions
  • opinion – commentaries or short essays that carry an opinion and are ment to initiate debates and discussions
  • trivia – usually smaller “off-topic” posts and rather meant to entertain than to educate

Impressed by the pure complexity and utter beauty our home world radiates, I was inspired to dig deeper; aiming to gain a better understanding of the way this planet works. My name is Ben and I’m proud to confess that I’m a huge nerd when it comes to all sorts of environmental, climatologic or planetary science related topics.

Teared apart from Earth’s unparalleled uniqueness on one hand and the drastic and existential challenges it’s facing on the other hand, I created this blog to spell out what I find relevant (in the slight hope that somebody actually reads it) and perhaps even to spread fascination and awareness to protect the best planet humankind populated so far.

Having graduated in physics (BSc) and astrophysics (MSc), I had the chance to obtain insights in and even slightly contribute to modern climate research. As in my current position at a TSO I aim to drive the energy transition, I hope to be able to offer interesting insights into the world of energy and climate physics.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you enjoy the posts. Also feel free to comment and share!
